  • As a Prophylaxis against susceptible pathogens in vaginal hysterectomy, head and neck surgery, insertion of prosthetic heart valves, and prosthetic arthroplasty (not indicated in the GIT surgery where anaerobes like bacteriodes tend to grow)
  • Upper and lower respiratory tract infection
  • Blood infection including
  • Endocarditis (inflammation of the inside lining of the heart chambers and heart valves)
  • Skin and soft tissue infection.
