Ampicillin and sulbactam use to prevent and treat a number of bacterial infections, such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, meningitis, salmonellosis, and endocarditis.
Sulbactam is given in combination with Ampicillin to inhibit β-lactamase, an enzyme produced by bacteria that destroys the antibiotics.
